In a remarkable display of fortune, a Massachusetts woman has defied the odds by winning two $1 million lottery prizes within a span of just 10 weeks. Christine Wilson, a resident of Attleborough, a town approximately 40 miles south of Boston, claimed her second $1 million prize recently, according to the Massachusetts Lottery.
Wilson's first brush with fortune came on February 23, when she became the inaugural $1 million prize winner on the $50 Lifetime Millions instant ticket game. This game, launched on February 6, offers players the tantalizing prospect of winning $1 million a year for life. However, Wilson opted for the one-time cash payment of $650,000.
The second win came from a $10 100X Cash ticket, which Wilson purchased at a Family Food Mart in Mansfield. The convenience store was rewarded with a $10,000 bonus following her win.
After her first win, Wilson had shared with Massachusetts Lottery officials her plans to buy a new SUV with part of her winnings. This time around, she intends to deposit her winnings into her savings account. The Massachusetts Lottery confirmed that Wilson did indeed purchase her SUV.
The odds of winning the top prize of $1 million in the Lifetime Millions game are 1 in 8,400,000, while the overall odds are 1 in 4.10, according to the Massachusetts Lottery. For the 100X Cash game, the odds of winning the first top prize of $4 million are 1 in 5,376,000, and the second top prize of $1 million are 1 in 1,612,800. The overall odds for this game are 1 in 3.47.
