Country Star Morgan Wallen Arrested for Alleged Reckless Chair-Throwing Incident at Nashville Bar

Date:

Country music sensation Morgan Wallen found himself in hot water after an alleged reckless act at a Nashville bar. The 30-year-old singer was arrested on Sunday, April 7, following an incident at Chief’s, a new bar owned by fellow country artist Eric Church, where he reportedly threw a chair off the rooftop.

According to the Nashville Metro Police Department, Wallen was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct. The chair, allegedly thrown by Wallen from the six-story rooftop, landed on the street, narrowly missing a group of police officers. Wallen was later released on a $15,250 bond.

Wallen's attorney, Worrick Robinson, confirmed the arrest and charges. "At 10:53 p.m. Sunday evening Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He is cooperating fully with authorities,” Robinson stated.

The incident was captured on video, showing Wallen "lunging and throwing an object over the roof." When questioned about the incident, bar staff identified Wallen as the culprit.

The incident occurred during the opening weekend of Chief’s, the latest addition to Nashville's popular Lower Broadway stretch. Church, the owner of the bar, was celebrating the opening with a 19-show residency at the venue's 350-seat theater.

Wallen and Church have a history of collaboration, having performed together at the CMA Awards last November and co-purchased outdoors magazine and brand Field & Stream in January. Despite Wallen's previous controversies, including an incident involving a racial slur, Church has remained supportive, offering both mentorship and constructive criticism.

This is not Wallen's first run-in with the law in Nashville. In May 2020, he was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct at Kid Rock’s bar.

Wallen is scheduled to appear in court on May 3, coinciding with his two concerts at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium on May 2 and 3. The outcome of this case could potentially impact his rising career in the country music scene.
